Abid Hassan Minto honours RCL Mozang and RCL Gulberg Central

RCL Mozang and RCL Gulberg had a joint meeting on Wednesday 21st April, 2010. We had the good fortune of being honoured by having the eminent Abid Hassan Minto as our guest speaker. He is an eminent senior constitutional expert and human rights activist and had been elected as the President of Supreme Court Bar Council from 1997 to 1999. He belongs to the Marxist school of thought in politics and is the President of National Workers Party Pakistan. He is a literary critic and has a deep insight on the changing scenarios inside the country.

Mr. Minto, is known for his eloquence as a speaker, and as always, he had the entire audience riveted to his words. Members were keen to know his opinion on the current important events. So he was requested to comment on the controversy of the new name of NWFP; changing human behaviours and 18th amendment, and in his cogent and comprehensive style he traced the political and historical background of Pakistan from 1947 till the situation in 2010 managing to incorporate all the questions asked at the beginning. As opposed to our regular intellectual arenas where the practice and preference is to obfuscate, Mr. Minto has not only the greater understanding and clarity of vision, but also the matching style by which he makes the most complex arguments simple, so that they become understandable to all. By the end of the session, there was indeed a feeling of having been intellectually
satisfied.
