February 28, 2010
Ambassador Hotel, Lahore

District Team Training Seminar/Assistant Team Training Seminar (DTTS/AGTS) for RI District 3272 was held on February 28, 2010 as a full-day event. It was the first Training Seminar for the charter year of RI District 3272 and was a huge success. Assistant Governors, District committee Chairs and Regional Chairs were invited for this event and there was a participation of more than 140. The beauty of the Seminar was that it started on time, it was highly interactive, majority of the participants stayed till the end of the Seminar and it finished on time. The participants were encouraged to Pre-Register, which helped the Host Club (RC Lahore Mozang) in making appropriate arrangements.

Another unique feature was that District Membership and TRF Contribution goals were set by the participants. Everyone was excited to be a part of the Charter Team for District 3272. There was consensus that everyone would work together for the betterment of Rotary in the District.

District Governor Usman Masud made a one-day trip to inform the participants about importance of DTTS/AGTS and stayed till the end to show his support. PDG A.Q. Alavi, PDG Suhail Ahmad, PDG Abdul Rauf Rohaila and IPDG Saeed Shamsi graced the occasion by their presence and provided practical tips at the appropriate times based on their vast experience. District Governor Elect Shehzad Ahmed presented theme pins to all participants and showed speech of RI President Elect Ray Klinginsmith who presented his theme “Building Communities – Bridging Continents” in a very lively manner. Later, DGE Shehzad informed the participants about his experience at the International Assembly where District Governors elect and their spouses from 531 districts had gathered for their training. He also shared his experiences at the Governors Elect Training Seminars (GETS) at Cochin and Manila.

The Training Team consisting of PDG Suhail Ahmad, PP Anthony Richards and PP Max Babri conducted the training seminar in a very lively and interactive manner and covered Roles and Responsibilities, Working with Club Leadership Plan, Resources and Problem Solving in very effective way. At the end, annual and long range planning was also discussed.

Eighteen out of Twenty one Assistant Governors Designate attended the DTTS/AGTS. Other three could not attend due to some family/business commitments. AG Designate Dost Mohammed was on the way to Lahore and had reached Islamabad when he had to return to Kabul to attend to some pressing business commitments. All assistant Governors were provided Assistant Governor’s Training Manual for their reference.

The District Chairs and Regional Chairs not only attended the Seminar but also actively participated in it. They were all provided with District Committee Manual for their reference.

The Seminar was a great success due to meticulous planning by the Host Club (Rotary Club of Lahore Mozang). They literally called all participants to motivate them for attending the Seminar and got confirmations for participation. All members of RC Lahore Mozang played their part very well, ably led by President Javed Manzoor, AG Raza Khursand, AG Designate Tahir Manzoor and PP Almas Jovindah. The energetic team consisting of PP Lubna Javed, PP Khalid Jamil Warraich, Secretary Tariq Saleem, Samra Syed, Nabeela Tariq, Major Ahsan Saleem and Mian Bilal Hanif facilitated the participants at Registration Desk.

Kenneth Eric at the District Secretariat kept the participants informed and motivated by his regular flow of SMS, emails and follow-up phone calls. He was in touch with many of the participants and got an opportunity to meet them in person. He was very excited to be a part of Charter Team of District 3272. He informed that though the training was related to Rotary, but he felt it was a good dose of Professional Development and is looking forward to future trainings. The Hotel management was also very supportive and they took good care of all the arrangements.

At the end, District Governor Elect Shehzad Ahmed thanked all participants for their continued support and invited everyone to look forward to an exciting and successful 2010-11 together. All participants resolved to work together to make Rotary BIGGER, BOLDER and BETTER in District 3272. Evaluation forms were collected in which the participants gave their feedback informing about their appreciation for the event. Later, the shields were presented to all speakers. A night earlier, an informal dinner was organized for Assistant Governors for enhancing fellowship and to have discussions on how to make 2010-11 the most successful year ever in the history of Rotary in this part of the world.

PMF works in the Slums, the main focus is on poor families living below the poverty line and due to this many are facing numerous hardships. Many of these a tragedies are avoidable but due to unawareness and negligence countless are affected and see countless children dying of diarrhea, women during pre antenatal and post antenatal complications, and general patients losing their lives. As they are not able to bear the expenses of the medicines and other medical care in time.
The project started functioning in 15 slums areas where hundreds of O.P.D patients were discovered to be suffering from various illness, the PMF has made the medical facility available to the people in these areas as well. The future plan is to make the same facility available to the people living in the outskirts of the city as well in the rural areas which are sadly neglected in this part of the world.
