As usual, free eye camp in the premises of city civil hospital Khairpur, was arranged from 3rd to 7th February-2010. This year the camp was organized with some more productive measures, as for example before the eye camps, the locally available eye specialist visited and examined around 2500 patients in the far-flung areas of Khairpur, sukkur, and N/sheroferoz districts. During OPD, 250 patients were selected and operated in the camp.

The importance and effectiveness of this camp may be visualized from the fact that 100% patients were planted IOL with help of modern Phaco machine. In this camp the patients were operated by the renowned opthamologist and Phaco ultrasonic surgeon of the country Dr. Asif Shah, Dr. Nasar along with local Dr. Mohammad Ali Shar and Dr. Meer Nazir Talpur.

This camp was organized with co-operation and help of Ashrafi Welfare Service Karachi, Society for Preservation and Restoration of Vision Karachi (SPRV), and Red Crescent Society Khairpur.

DCO Khairpur Mr. Mohammad Abbas Baloch visited the camp. AG Rtn Nizamuddin Shaikh, President RC Khairpur Dr. Muhammad Hassan Abro, Secretary Syed Athar Shah, PADG Rtn Dr. Murad Khamisani, Member Pakistan Polio Plus Committee Rtn Shujaat Ahmed Siddiqui and Patron Red Crescent Society Khairpur Haji Shah Nawaz Momon fully attended and supported the camp event. A very good effort on the part of Rotarians of RC Khairpur. A blind man once made a comment “Nothing can be worse than losing sight”. The wise man commented “still worst is losing the vision”.
We all should strive to have our vision of serving above self remain firm and unwavering.
Once again, keep up the spirit to help mankind.
