Jamiah Mosque at the Jinnah Hospital

Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood (Head, Department of Radiology) and Dr. Tasneem Butt had invited us over to Jinnah Hospital to see how Rotary Club of Karachi Bay / Rotaract Club of Karachi Bay / Interact Club of Karachi Bay can assist them in helping to raise funds for the up keep and running of their institute.

While we were there to talk about the Radiology Aid Foundation (RAF) project we were also briefed about a small project of a mosque which required a proper renovation and repair/maintenance of the dilapidated wazu area. Our motivated team visited that place and with a split of a second the group decided to adopt the scheme. To everyone’s surprise the mission was taken to task with in a week and the next following 10 days completed. District Governor Rtn. Usman Masud’s son Avais Masud took the challenge in heading the contractor’s team and placed himself at the Jamiah Mosque, meanwhile our team concentrated on raising the funds which was conveniently done within our own club members, friends and relatives.

The group members visited the site on periodic basis to obtain an update and motivate the people. The mission was to finish the project before the Ramadan time so that the worshippers can get clean water, relaxed environment and brand new mosque to worship their God and gain ‘Sawab’ and a place in ‘Akhirat’.

District Governor Rtn. Usman Masud along with his host club President Rtn. Aamir Butt and the club members visited the mosque for final inspection and also to meet the members of the Jamiah mosque and Jinnah hospital.

The ‘Imam sb’ had spent 16 years and could not believe that there will be a day that he would see the mosque in such beautiful state. We were all very happy and contend with this achievement.
