Rotary Club of Karachi Centennial held a mega Rotary meeting over Lunch on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Karachi Sheraton Hotel at 1.30 p.m. Rotary Club of Karachi south had joined in as co-hosts with 15 of its members.
The meeting had an impressive attendance of over 60 persons including Rotary Governor Usman Masud, Past Rotary Governor Aziz Memon, District Secretary Admiral Tanveer Ahmed, Musarrat Misbah of Dupilex Smile Again Foundation, Dr. Christian Brecht, German Consul General, Ms. Astrid, German Cultural Advisor, Ms. Iona Segaram, Vice Consul of USA, Honorary Consul General of Niger, Australian Trade Commissioner, Chairman, Sind Privatization Board, Senior Advisor from United Nations office in New York, DIG Police Headquarters, Senior Income Tax Commissioner, Karachi, former PIA Chairman, former Export Processing Zone Managing Director, former Pakistan Medical Association President, President of Rotary Club of Karachi and many others. The meeting was covered by Aaj TV and TV ONE and members of the press.

The meeting was invoked by Dr. Wasif Azeem to be followed by National Anthem sung by Eram Shaikh, Raheel Tariq and Dr. Sabiha Khan. The guest speaker was introduced by Rotarian S.M.Barinuddin, President Rotary Club of Karachi South, our co-host club.
The Guest Speaker Justice (Retired.) Anwar Mansoor Khan made a brilliant forty minute presentation on “THE RULE OF LAW”, which had the audience spell bound. He discussed the possible collision between the, judiciary, executive and legislature as a result of Supreme Courts decision on NRO and Swiss Court Cases. He pointed out how the rules were being violated to profit a few politicians and that the Government was not sincere in implementing the orders of the Supreme Court. He pointed out that nothing is lost so far and if the people in power could show some prudence it can all be repaired. However if the government decided to run the country by the “LAW OF THE RULER” instead of Rule of Law, the country could be headed for Disaster.

After his speech a Memento from our club was presented to the Chief Guest by District Governor Usman. District Governor also presented a special award Navaid Khan for his outstanding performance in the recent Rotary District Conference.
Rotary Governor Usman Masud while summing up what had been said talked about the Objects of Rotary and Four Way Test. He showed how these form the basis of The Rule of law anywhere. He pleaded to all present to not only practice the Four way Test but to make sure that others around them do the same.
A cheque of Rs. 850,000.00 was presented by Rotary Governor Usman Masud from Rotary Club of Karachi Centennial to Musarrat Misbah of Dupilex Smile Again Foundation for setting up a Vocational Center for young women from the under privileged classes. In February 2010 Rotary Club of Karachi Centennial had donated an ultra sound machine to Dr. Zeenat Issani, former Director of National Institute of Child Health at a total cost of Rs. 345,000.00 for a charitable Mother and Child Clinic she is running in Shikarpur, Sind.
The meeting had unusual minute to minute time management and a sumptuous food menu.
After a vote of thanks by Club Service Director Babar Ayaz the meeting was adjourned.
