Wow!
Isn’t that quite a mouthful to say all of that in a single sentence? Well, not just mouth-full, but even quite a rare feat, and worth sharing here. So, here we have the coverage as reported by Maibritt Babri:
Blessed are those club meetings where new members are inducted, Paul Harris fellows recognized and new Matching Grants presented!
Such a meeting was held by RC Midtown in April at Defence Club in Lahore.
The club also had the opportunity to listen to the eminent guest speaker Mr. Shafqat Mahmood, former Senator and Minister, who spoke about “Challenges facing Pakistan”. There are many, he said, but we will succeed. The inspirational and analytical speech ended with a very active question/answer session.
The Matching Grant project “Deaf Reach” was presented by its Director, Mr. Daniel Marc, who delivered a beautiful speech about the activities at the centre, and thanked Rotary for the 23 computers which soon will be installed at the Deaf Training Centre in Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore.
The second Matching Grant project was presented by Dr. Rubina Sohail who spoke about the activities at the Kishan Rural Center in Kasur where the club will buy and have an ultrasound machine installed. RC Midtown has earlier, together with RC Epping, invested in an ultrasound machine. The second machine is also a result of collaboration between the same clubs. The Deaf Center project has been made possible thanks to teamwork between RC Midtown and RC clubs Topsfield, Boxford and Middleton.
The meeting ended in high spirit when DG Shamsi recognized seven new Paul Harris fellows and inducted two new club members. The spontaneous hug from the youngest PHF, Sophia Richards, was much appreciated, not only by DG but also by the audience!
