Midtowners from Lahore and volunteers from Quaid-e-Azam Law College (QLC) worked as a great team that managed to immunize over 500 children during the three NIDs! (October 12 – 14).
The camp was organized on the lawns of the QLC. The Principal of the college, Rtn. Nafeer Malik, had helped and facilitated for the Rotarians to get QLC students to volunteer. The students did a remarkable job! They almost blocked the traffic on the Model Town G main road, while looking for small children to be immunized.
It was wonderful to see them stop and enter Daewoo buses to check if there were any kids under the age of five, who had not been immunized during the current NIDs. Interestingly, not a single driver, conductor or passenger complained about the unexpected stops! It seemed as if they all enjoyed the eagerness of the students; seeing them carry infants from buses, wagons, cars and rickshaws to the camp and back again!
“Will you return the kids?” Some passengers jokingly asked!
A mobile team from the college also went to schools in Liaqatabad area where they immunized children below the age of 5.
Rotarians from Midtown Lahore and the students had great fun while they participated in the community work which is one of the Rotary International’s most significant program!
