Dear PDG Aziz Memon
Chairman, Pakistan National Polio Plus Committee
As per your advice to celebrate the dates of 18th to 20th of January for SNIDs and Polio vaccination, and accordingly we have received packs of give-aways like Pencils, Badges, T-Shirts, Caps, Stickers & Story Books.
But, these dates were not honored in Punjab because the weather of mid January that shows up chill, fog, biting wind is not conducive to an activity like administering Polio drops. The vaccine was, therefore, not released by the Health Department.

This club converted the dates to Polio awareness by its initiative.
18th January was a memorable day. We had planned to feed the needy with Polio Drops but, instead, we had an exciting socializing with the children of two schools: a posh school of the affluent children and a tidy little school for the indigent, poor children.
1. Bahria Foundation College Children Campus Garden Town and,
2. Dr. Khurram Memorial School and Health Center.

We gave a Quiz Test on Polio Information to the little children 5-9 years old. Wow! The children had as much knowledge as we had. There was nothing to educate and plenty to learn. Hats Off to The Rotary International and District Teams for having spread enough awareness among the urban children that we know. Situation must be hopeful about the rural children, as well, we all hope and pray.
The Children got the memento gifts of Rotary Pencils, T-Shirts, Polio Badges, Polio Story Books and a pat on the back.
Dr. Khurram Memorial School was a treat to visit. Situated in the posh area of M-Block Gulberg, its services are devoted to the children of the poor locality around. No Fee, Free Books, Free Uniforms. Set up under the banner of Inner Wheel Club of Lahore Metropolitan, it is run by Mohtarma Arshada Niaz, the mother of Dr. Khurram who died young and sudden death, with the active support by Rtn. PP Dr. Shariqa Nasreen Principal APWA College and Rtn. Prof. Shaheena Maqbul of the same college.
The Bahria Foundation School’s visit was facilitated by Rtn. PP Khawaja Amjad and Anne Shaukat Amjad.

The Rotary Awareness Team consisted of President Rtn. Rehana Baray, Secretary Rtn. Dr. Shariqa Nasreen, Rtn. PP. Maroof Baray, Rtn. PP. Khawaja Amjad other Club Members of RC Lahore Sharqi and Rtn. President Hasan Muizudin of RC Lahore Cosmopolitan.
Kind regards,
Yours in Rotary
