The nationwide 3-day polio campaign was joined in by Rotary Club of Lahore Sharqi in a big way on 12th , 13th & 14th October, 2009.
On the first day, the area of service was the old village of Lahore “Jeevan Hana” which is now trapped all around by Barkat Market Area and Usman Block of Garden Town. This is a place which is not reachable comfortably, and the population is quite backward. The parents of the locality welcomed the Rotary Team and had their children take the drops.
On the second day, a camp was established in the vast campus of the Pakistan Society of the Rehabilitation of the Disable, which is usually thronged by children, who, because of not having been attended earlier by any Polio Plus Teams have begun to show symptoms of neglect. So, the enthusiasm was worthy of observation. Rotary Club of Lahore Cosmopolitan who had not arranged their own Polio-Service had come to PSRD to join hand with Sharqi.
On the third day, the dedicated volunteers of the club visited their own village the RCC “Kot Wadhawan Singh” (UC-62) and another village namely “Kamaha” (UC-63) for administrating Polio drops to the children.
It is worth mentioning that the volunteers / Health workers of UC 63 constitute only the young girls and women folks of the village, who have easy & unhindered excess to each and every house of their jurisdiction.
Thus the club kept its tradition of serving the Polio Plus campaign, all over these years.
