Born on 8th February 1943, Saeed Shamsi graduated in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering from NED Engineering University in 1964. Up till 1975, he worked with a group of companies. Then in 1976, Saeed started his own organization by the name of Potential Engineers (Pvt.) Ltd., a Power System Design and Construction company. With the passage of time, this organization became the holding company for new engineering ventures. He now currently oversees the group with highly professional people, delegated to the day-to-day running of the company activities of the following companies:
Joined Rotary Club of Lahore Sharqi in the year 1991 and was elected as the President in 1993-94. He was awarded the ’Best President’ and ’Best Club of the Year’, awards in 1994. He is also a recipient of Rl President’s ’Significant Achievement and Balanced Club Projects awards’ as well as the Rotary Foundation District Service Award. He has also received the Rl President’s citation for Four Avenues of Service for individual Rotarians. Apart from these, Saeed Shamsi is also a Major Donor Level Two of Rotary Foundation.
Saeed has held various positions at both Club and District level. At the District level he has held the positions of District Treasurer, Secretary District Conference (twice), District Joint Secretary (North), Chairman Youth Service, Chairman GSE Committee, Member Nominating Committee DGN 1998-99, Member District Education Fund Committee, Chairman Planned Giving & Major Gifts Subcommittee, Chairman Literacy & Numeracy Committee, Chairman Friendship Exchange Committee, District Chairman Rotary Community Service Corps, Member Rotary Foundation Committee, Chairman District Citation Committee and Chairman Sub Committee Polio Plus Social Mobilization.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Society for the Rehabilitation of Disabled and a trustee of Medicare Trust.
His wife Aqeela Shamsi also shares his passion for social work and has been involved with various organizations like the Women’s Vocational Centre, Ghulab Devi Chest Hospital, Pakistan Society for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled, and Inner Wheel International. She has been the President for the Inner Wheel Club of Lahore alongside other club and district appointments.
He has four children; his son Fawad is an engineer by profession and has completed his higher education from the United States, he is currently on the board of directors of his father’s companies. Fawad is married to Mahwash and lives in Lahore with his two children Rafay and Maha. Saeed has three daughters; the eldest Rabeea has three children- Ahtesham, Ayesha and Anam and is settled in the United States. The second daughter Naima has a son Haider and lives in Islamabad. The youngest daughter Zainab has recently done a masters degree in Environmental Management and Development Studies from the London School of Economics and aims to follow in her parents footsteps. His daughters have also been actively involved with Interact Club of Lahore Sharqi; Rabeea and Naima have been presidents of the club while Zainab has been the secretary.
