Rotary 3270 is now on Twitter

“3270 is on what?”

I am sure, some of our senior members might read this news headline and respond with these very words, much like my own parents and uncles, and I do come from a family of Rotarians.

Twitter is a hugely popular internet service that allows people to circulate updates in short messages of no more than 140 characters. Thats even less than the limit of a typical SMS. But the benefit of being on Twitter is that everyone who is “following you” gets in instant update of your activities by email, or on their hi-tech smart-phones (as we younger lot like to call our expensive toys!!!) like blackberry and iPhones.

Once the link between District website Rotary3270.org and Twitter is fully functional, the moment anything is published on the website, its update will also be broadcast to everyone following the District Twitter account
http://twitter.com/rotary3270

The most surprising part for me was that Rotary International itself has official presence on Twitter (in addition to many other Districts and Rotary Clubs) and they are regularly posting updates on their Twitter account.

So friends, Rotarians and countrymen, lets join Twitter! (I wonder what’s the instruction for the countrywomen?! :) )

We are all in the learning mode. Thanks to Raza.According to British slang “twit” meant a silly or a foolish person and twitter as per the Oxford Dictionary states it as a bird emitting a succession of light tremulous sounds or colloq: a tremulously excited state. Now we have the Rotary twitter.
