Door of Awareness Foundation has been running “schools” for the residents of several nomadic “jhuggi” colonies in Lahore since 2007. Rotary Club of Lahore Liberty and the team of doctors and paramedic staff from its project Ali Free Clinic organised a medical camp in association with Door of Awareness Foundation in the jhuggis on the outskirt of Lahore’s Model Town Q Block.
The project was planned and envisaged by club’s President, Mushtaq Ahmed Rana and the club secretary, Sadiq Abbas. Dr Aftab Bungash checked 50 residents of the locality including children and adults while Amir Fayyaz administered the medicines.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Ruba Humayun of Door of Awareness Foundation, thanked the Rotary Club of Lahore Liberty and Ali Free Clinic for organising the camp and paying attention to the needs of these people.
President Mushtaq Rana took note of the other needs of the people and said that he will make efforts to arrange for clean water either through WASA or by provisioning a hand pump. Secretary Sadiq Abbas assured that similar camps will also be arranged at other jhuggi colonies where Door of Awareness is operating its schools. The residents of the locality were delighted to have this camp and requested more support and cooperation from Rotary in future.
