Rotary Club of Lahore Liberty helps Shaukat Khanum

The two most significant fund-raising campaigns of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre are the Zakat Collection during the holy month of Ramadan and the Hides (Qurbani ki khalain) Collection in the holy month of Zilhaj.

Rotary Club of Lahore Liberty is helping Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in its hide collection project in two important ways. First, Rotary Club of Lahore Liberty has undertaken a campaign to contact Rotary Clubs in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi / Islamabad to encourage their members and friends to donate the Hides to Shaukat Khanum on this Eid Al Adha. These four cities account for most of the clubs in the district. In this regard, SMSes and emails are being sent to each club’s President. Specially made plastic bags for the packing of the hides are being couriered to all the clubs as well.

Secondly, Shaukat Khanum is in dire need of volunteers in Lahore to help with the actual work of hides collection at its 180 camps. They have requested 50 volunteers. Rotary Club of Lahore Liberty has started mobilising all channels of contact among Rotary as well as non-Rotary contacts to encourage Rotarians.

DGE Shehzad Ahmed has been very kind and extended wholehearted support to the effort. In the special awareness tour of Shaukat Khanum he arranged for Rotarians he gave special emphasis to the Hides Collection effort and also brought Rotaractors to the visit. He requested the Rotaractors to help arrange the volunteers, and requested all attendees to donate hides to Shaukat Khanum.

Each volunteer will receive a formal Certificate of Appreciation personally signed by Imran Khan to recognise the efforts.

Rotary Club of Lahore Liberty has also started circulating a specially designed poster for campus notice boards inviting volunteers.
