Rotary Club of Lahore’s Gift of Life

This Rotary year, Rotary Club had planned as one of its goals to provide Gift of Life to two children suffering from heart ailments, which they have achieved by the benevolence of Allah Almighty. The first beneficiary of their Gift of Life Programme was Master Ali Raza a 1-1/2 year old boy son of a vendor from Tehsil Shahpur, District Sargodha. He went through successful open heart surgery in the first week of October, 2008 at Children’s Hospital and Institute of Child Health, Lahore by Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Jamal Abdul Nasir.

The second beneficiary had been Mst. Amina, a 15 year old girl daughter of a nursing staff from Bahria Town, Lahore. She was successfully plugged a hole in her heart through a “device system” avoiding open heart surgery. She was injected with a tube through her thigh to the heart and a disc was inserted through the tube which blocked the hole in the heart. The device system is such that the disc gets covered by the flesh with the passage of time. This successful operation was done by Professor Dr. Masood Sadiq, a Paediatric Cardiologist at Children’s Hospital and Institute of Child Health, Lahore.

For both the surgeries the funds were provided by club member, Rtn. Tahir Khan and other members provided their valuable time, talent, co-operation and co-ordination.
