The famous actor, producer, T.V and Theatre artist, Sohail Ahmed, was the chief guest of the evening. PAG, PP, Rtn Almas Jovinda introduced him as the son of a police officer and brother of a famous journalist and a professor. He also highlighted the fact that Sohail Ahmed was not only a national celebrity, but an international one.

During the course of his talk, his scholarly background, his intellectual perceptions of “Art” and its role and scope were clearly reflected. The words of this vintage artist were full of wisdom, knowledge and conviction. He answered the questions from the audience in a confident and witty manner. The essence of his talk was that culture is vital to the existence of a nation’s identity. He also emphasized the need to promote good comedy , as it is an important vehicle of not only relieving people in times such as these but also to use it as a platform to convey social issues in a way that they become more understandable to the common man also. Rtn Robeena Tahir delivered the vote of thanks appreciating the fact that the artistic skills of the guest neither belonged to the Art for Art sake school of thought nor to the Art for Life sake school; rather it was an amalgamation of both.

At the end of the meeting PDG. Rtn Sohail Ahmed , at the request of President Rtn. Javed Manzoor, acknowledged Mr. Sohail Ahmed”s contributions and was presented a rotary pin. He is now an honorary member of the RCL Mozang.
