The morning of June 1st began with over 60 guests from both Rotary and the senior leadership of the Pakistan Navy gathering at the Special Children’s School at Karsaz Naval Base. By 8:45am, the room was packed and the protocol of the Chief of Naval Staff arrived exactly on time. The function started with recitation of the Holy Quran with the surah selected focusing on the merits of looking after the helpless and the needy.

Thereafter Commander Karachi, Rear Admiral Khawar Ali took the stage to welcome all the guests after which he spoke of the long standing cooperation and relationship between Rotary and the Pakistan Navy. He highlighted the several projects that both organizations have carried out together over the years for the greater good of the people whom both are meant to serve.
Thereafter the wheelchairs were distributed to the handicapped who were also in attendance with their families. DG Usman Masud, Adm Tanveer Ahmed, and the Chief of Naval Staff met with each of the recipients as they handed out the wheelchairs.

After the distribution, DG Usman Masud took the stage where he reminded the CNS that its not only the armed forces that get up early and assemble on time when the situation calls for it, Rotary is right there doing the same. He spoke of the years of mutual respect and cooperation between Rotary and the Pakistan Navy. He gave voice to the consensus in Rotary that the Navy has been a good partner in good works for a long time. He promised to further build on all the projects we’ve undertaken together and to continue to look at the Navy as a partner in peace.
Last but certainly not least, the Chief of Naval Staff , Admiral Noman Bashir took the stage to address the audience. He appreciated the selection of the Surah as an appropriate reminder of the good works that are expected of all people. He said he felt it necessary to be part of the work both our organizations have been carrying out together simply because we are all part of the greater family whose every suffering is shared by all. He promised to continue the tradition of partnership between our two organizations and unequivocally pledged to always stand by Rotary since our track record has always spoken for itself. He appreciated that the partnership exists on many levels throughout both organizations and looked forward to doing more with Rotary over the course of time.
A selected group from both sides took a short tour of the premises of the Special Childrens School to inspect the facilities and take note of any requirements. The guests thereafter broke for refreshments and fellowship between members of Rotary and the Pakistan Navy.
